Vale Graeme Philipson
It’s with great sadness that the Pearcey Foundation learnt of the sudden death this week of renowned IT journalist, historian, writer and researcher Graeme Philipson. Many of us in the Foundation have had the privilege of knowing and working with Graeme for many years, most recently through Graeme’s work with us on the Pearcey Heritage Project. This is especially a tragic loss for his family and his close personal friends, and we extend our sympathies to them.
Graeme has been undertaking an ambitious project with us to create the definitive history of the Australian ICT Industry, a work that we hope will become Graeme’s lasting legacy in what has been a glittering career.
Graeme’s influence and impact on our industry has been profound, be it as a journalist, an historian, an author, Chair of the Australian Computer Museum Society, or simply as a peer. We are currently reaching out both to his family and to other groups and associations with which he has been involved so that we can arrange a memorial event to remember and celebrate Graeme’s life and achievements.
