2008 Qld Award
The 2008 Queensland Pearcey Award was won by Raeleen Gillett, CEO and Founder of Octahedron Pty Ltd. The presentation was made by Mr Tony Waters Deputy Director General of the Queensland Dept of Public Works at a gala dinner held on the 11th of November 2008 at the Sebel Hotel, King George Square, Brisbane. As Ms Gillett happened to be in New York city at the time, the presentation was made across a VOIP link involving Skype video.

Ms Raeleen Gillett
Since starting Octahedron in 2000, at the age of 22, Ms Gillett has built a global product business focussed on servicing the jewellery industry, from her Newstead, Queensland base. Octahedron has partnered with one of the world's largest information and services group in the diamond industry, the Rappaport Group, to extend the company's global reach using her locally developed state-of-the-art scaleable software suite, SWIM.
Mr David Merson, Chairman of the Queensland Pearcey Foundation Committee, said Ms Gillett has not only made her global web-based business successful but also has a passionate commitment to bringing the benefits of IT to the wider community. She has many diverse interests involving the Women in IT (WIT) organisation as well as various co-op programs and "hands-on" assistance to students at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), over a number of years.
Commendation
Mr Merson also commented on the Highly Commended work of Mr Mark Bathie, Founder and CEO of CVSDude, a Brisbane based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vendor addressing the global hosted software development tools market.
