2023 Pearcey Medal
The Pearcey Medal, Australia’s most prestigious annual individual award in the ICT industry, is in its 25th Year. Traditionally the Pearcey Medal recognises an individual who has a distinguished lifetime of achievement and contribution to the development and growth of the ICT industry in Australia. However, in 2023 the Foundation made an exception in awarding the Medal to two brothers, Aidan and David Tudehope.
The 2023 Pearcey Medal was presented on Monday 30 October 2023 at the Pearcey National Award gala dinner in Sydney. The presentation was
made by Wayne Fitzsimmons OAM, Chairman and Jordan Green AM, Secretary, of the Pearcey Foundation.
David and Aiden, two outstanding pioneers of the Australian ICT industry, founded Macquarie
Technology Group
in 1992 when they were both in the twenties, not long after graduation. These two entrepreneurs have guided their company’s development to
where today it is a fully integrated carrier, supplying voice, mobile, data networks & managed hosting solutions to business &
government users in Australia & Asia. Macquarie Group is a major provider to government whose customers include the ATO.
David and Aidan Tudehope
David Tudehope
is responsible for overseeing the general management and strategic direction of the Company and is actively involved in the Company’s
participation in regulatory issues. He was previously a director of the Service Providers’ Industry Association. He is a member of the
Australian School of Business Advisory Council and the Australian Government B20 Leadership Group. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce
degree from the University of NSW. In recognition of Macquarie Telecom Group’s focus on customer experience, Mr Tudehope was awarded
CEO of the Year at the World Communication
Awards in
2020, where Macquarie Telecom Group was awarded the Best Customer Experience of the Year.
David received the Australian Telecommunication User Group’s highest award in 2011, ‘the Charles Todd Medal’. Over the last two
decades, he has championed telecommunications regulatory issues & strived for more competitive outcomes to benefit Australian customers.
Aidan Tudehope is Managing Director & Co-Founder, Macquarie Data Centres. Aidan is co-founder of Macquarie Telecom Group and has been a director since 1992. He is the Managing Director of Macquarie Hosting with a focus on business growth, operational efficiency, cyber security, and customer satisfaction. He has been responsible for the strategy and execution of the $60m investment in Intellicentre 2.
As the former Chief Operating Officer for Macquarie, Aidan played an integral part in the strategy and direction of the Hosting business since its state-of-the-art data centre, the Intellicentre, opened in 2001. As well, he was instrumental in the development of Macquarie’s data networking strategy. Aidan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Additionally, the company encourages study of Cyber Security through university scholarships, and runs a University Graduate Program within their Security Operations Centre and Hosting Management Centre. At present, over 200 of their staff are AU Gov cleared.
The Macquarie Technology Group have been long term supporters of the Pearcey Foundation, especially in NSW.
